Cathedral Home's Equine Therapy Program is an integral part of our total treatment plan. Our program is specifically about discipline, mastery and accomplishment, all critical components to building self-esteem. Many children come to us suffering from severe emotional detachment after years of abusive and dysfunctional relationships. Often, it is only the horses that they can relate to. Our Horse Program offers bonding in a non-threatening environment. Although the horses test our children and teach them about consequences, they also teach our kids to "listen." This demonstrates to the kids that they must see beyond themselves, see beyond their hurt and rage, to build a relationship with another being. The Horse Program is funded through private donations of cash, equipment, and stock from caring people.
