Sciences
*3 years: 1 year must be Biology
• Biology
Biology classes are used to introduce students to the fundamentals of Life Sciences. A variety of methods are used to teach these fundamentals including but not limited to; individual study, group work, hands on applications using a variety of labs and tools (microscopes, dissection, data collecting), individual and group projects and lectures with note-taking.
• Physical Science
Physical Science classes introduce students to the fundamentals of physics using earth, environmental and geological studies. The methods of instruction for these classes are similar to the Biology classes.
• General Science
General Science is a class used to provide students with a basic overview of Life and Earth Sciences. Often times the students will need a review of classes that they may have already taken and the General Science class provides them with this review.
• Independent Science
Independent Science classes are used for those students who have already completed biology but are in need of another science class. This class allows the students to choose a topic of interest to them (in the area of Life Science), research the topic, develop a project and present the project. Depending on the topic chosen, there may be one or several projects over the course of the year.
• Special Education Sciences
Special Education Science classes are designed to work on the specific needs of each student. The methods used in these classes are based upon the Individual Education Plans of each student.
• Deaf Education Sciences
Deaf Education Science classes are designed solely on the individual needs of each student. Classes will be structured according to each student’s IEP needs.
