Social Studies
*3 years: 1 year Civics, 1 year U.S. History, 1 year history elective

Geography
Geography classes are focused on discovering people, cultures, economies, political issues and geography from all over the world. This basic background will assist the students in the studies of Civics, United States History and World History.

Civics
Civics classes are designed to help make students well-informed, responsible citizens of the global community that is our world. The goal of this course is to encourage students to become active in their communities and to become responsible citizens in a democratic society. The class focuses on the study of the United States’ laws and legal systems. Particular methods of instruction include problem solving, discussion, and reflection writing, as well as, the more traditional teaching methods of lecture and note taking.

United States History
The U.S. History classes survey American history beginning with the emergence of modern America in the 1860’s and continuing to the present. The students are expected to interpret and analyze historical events, people and themes in American history through a variety of traditional and non-traditional assessments.

World History
World History classes are designed to teach students about various ancient civilizations, as well as, some particular current topics in global relations. Students will engage in multiple types of learning environments such as; discussion, reflection writing, problem solving, collaborative projects, and other types of non-traditional and traditional assessments.
