 FAQs

  • The WYO Text Line provides a friendly way for folks to receive mental health assistance, no matter what they’re facing. It’s an accessible alternative to the suicide hotline (988) for individuals who may not be in immediate danger of harming themselves, but who just need a listening ear, support, and resources. The text line’s trained volunteer crisis counselors are here to talk about any concern, big or small, whereas 988 operators may only have capacity for immediate emergencies.

The WYO Text Line serves as a holistic, preventative complement to 988 and is intended to expand the mental health safety net in our state. It’s also important to note that WYO Text Line volunteers are equipped to handle crisis situations and mental health emergencies, and can deploy emergency services if necessary.
