    Any coach, mentor, teacher, or leader who works with young people. Whether you coach a team, lead a small group, volunteer, or even have kids that live on your street, you can make a difference

  • Do I need experience or training in mental health?

    Not at all. This training is designed for non-clinicians—it’s practical, approachable, and focused on what coaches need to know to recognize signs of distress and connect athletes to help.

  • Are the sessions online?

    No, sessions are held in-person on Cathedral Home’s main campus, 4989 N 3rd St. Further details will be provided to those who register.

  • What will I learn?

    You’ll learn how to:

    Recognize signs of suicidality and emotional distress

    Respond confidently and with care

    Connect athletes to trusted resources and support

    Understand your role as a trusted adult and what boundaries to maintain

  • How long are the sessions?

    The training is 90 minutes total, including time for Q&A.

    No—it’s completely free! Thanks to community support, we are proud to offer this training at no charge to participants.

    No problem—we have nine sessions to choose from. You can attend any one that fits your schedule.

    Yes! You’ll receive a certificate of completion after attending, which you can share with your school, club, or organization.

  • What if I'm worried I'll say the wrong thing?

    That’s exactly why this training exists. We’ll cover how to approach tough conversations with empathy, ask direct questions safely, and avoid common mistakes—so you feel prepared, not nervous.

  • I'm just a volunteer mentor. Do I really need to take this?

    Absolutely. Whether you coach full-time or part-time, you have a huge impact as a trusted adult. Even a few hours a week with your athletes makes you a key player in their circle of support.

  • Is the social media challenge required?

    Not at all—it’s optional but encouraged! The more coaches we reach, the stronger our community becomes.
