Care in action.

Our volunteers play a vital role in supporting the environment that makes healing possible.

Our volunteering approach is intentional.

Your care matters, and we are grateful you are here with us to give your time, energy and skill to our programs. The youth and families we serve are often at a vulnerable point in their lives. Cathedral Home is careful to intentionally protect our clients’ privacy, ensure therapeutic boundaries, and build trust and consistency in making their own spaces private and comfortable. This means volunteers generally do not work directly with youth in our programs, but instead support the environment of care that allows healing to happen.

Here are some of the ways our volunteers contribute to care:

  • Set up events, including the annual Open Barn and Cathedral Cup Golf Tournament

  • Provide small construction, repair, or painting skill and labor

  • Coordinate highway cleanup around our Residential campus

  • Build food-share bags for the community from our Residential pantry

  • Assemble Welcome Kits (cozy socks, journals, pens/pencils, fidgets, small toiletries)

  • Support staff through notes of encouragement

  • Sponsor a meal or treats for cottages

  • Prepare mass mailings through labeling and stuffing envelopes

  • Make handmade blankets or hats for each client

  • Translate materials from English to Spanish to expand access

  • Hang posters or deliver materials in the Laramie area

  • Offer knowledge as a guest speaker at our on-campus school, the Mae Olson Education Center (volunteers will be with CHC staff)

  • Host a fundraiser or drive

Let’s get connected.

Let us know how we can connect with you. We will notify you when we have opportunities come up, and you can decide which ones work best for you. Or, if you have a new idea to share, tell us about it here and we will be in touch:

Volunteering FAQs:

  • Once you submit your interest in volunteering, we will add you to our email and text list, to be contacted when a volunteer opportunity arises. Or, if you have a specific project idea, we will be glad to brainstorm. If your volunteering time is on our Residential campus, we will have you sign a confidentiality form to protect the minors in our care.

  • We are open to ideas! If you’re interested in engaging in another way that feels personal and meaningful to you, we’re happy to brainstorm to find a volunteer option that aligns with our values and truly supports the youth we serve. Complete the form above and we will be in touch.

  • By completing the volunteer form above, you will be notified of upcoming needs and opportunities through either text or announced in our Advocates In Action email newsletter. From time to time we may call or email you directly for your availability on a specific project.

  • Cathedral Home is careful to intentionally protect our clients’ privacy, ensure therapeutic boundaries, and build trust and consistency in making their own spaces private and comfortable. For these reasons, our volunteers don’t work directly with clients. However, there are many other meaningful ways to support the environment that makes healing possible at Cathedral Home.
